  • The only way you can tell exactly how your fabric, stabiliser, design and thread are going to behave together is to test them. If you are embroidering a purchased item test sew on a similar fabric. This is not a waste of time or money or thread and avoids a lot of disappointment.
  • Keep notes on all your test embroideries to save time in the future, although you should always try your selected colours on the fabric – sometimes they look surprisingly different when stitched.
